In Scam With Your Friends, answer a fictional AI caller at an office computer, then respond through your microphone or by typing dialogue. Follow the caller's answer and the task on your desktop before deciding what to say next.
The conversation is generated in real time. There is no verified universal sentence that completes every call, and a caller's spoken agreement is different from a completed action in an in-game application. When the game displays an AI failure or temporary usage-restriction message, treat it as a system status rather than part of the character's story.
Answer the caller and choose your input
- Use a workstation and answer an incoming call.
- Listen to the caller's initial message and check the current task.
- Speak through your microphone or enter a typed reply.
- Check the text the game recognized or the message you entered.
- Read or listen to the response before sending the next message.
Both spoken and manual typed interaction appear in gameplay. Current fixes also explicitly retain typed dialogue while addressing speech startup problems, so speech is not the only supported way to communicate with callers.
No universal push-to-talk key, exact microphone-menu path, or exhaustive language list is established here. Use the controls shown by your build and avoid copying a shortcut from another game simply because both games use voice chat.

Check recognized speech before changing your approach
A caller may react to the words the game recognized rather than the words you intended to say. Gameplay includes misunderstandings of names and ordinary phrases. Check the displayed text when the response appears unrelated to your message.
Keep a message short enough that you can identify what was recognized. If the text contains the wrong name or phrase, correct that specific point instead of stacking several more instructions onto the misunderstanding.
This is a practical way to inspect input, not a guaranteed recognition fix. Recent updates reduced speech-recognition delays and filtered additional false music captions, but those changes do not establish perfect transcription for every microphone, accent, language, or background sound.
Typed input can help separate the symptoms. If a typed reply is understood while speech is consistently transcribed incorrectly, that points you toward the speech-input stage. It does not by itself identify a faulty driver, a Windows permission setting, or a broken microphone.
Respond to the current conversation
Callers have different personalities and can react differently to similar requests. Read what this caller has said rather than assuming a line from a gameplay recording is a reliable script for your run.
A useful next message addresses the immediate subject already on screen. If the caller asks you to clarify something, a clarification is different from changing topics and requesting unrelated information. Keep track of that distinction so you can tell whether the task is progressing or the dialogue is simply continuing.
The caller's trust display helps show the state of the interaction, but there is no confirmed numeric threshold that makes every request succeed. Do not wait for an invented percentage or assume a friendly tone guarantees a particular result.

Keep dialogue and desktop actions connected
The game's desktop applications provide the actions and fields associated with a task. Conversation can produce information or move the interaction forward, while the relevant application may still require you to enter or confirm something.
Check the application and current objective after the caller answers. A payment mentioned in dialogue does not prove that the team received it. Likewise, a statement about remote access does not mean the remote desktop has connected unless the game shows that result.
All of these interactions belong to the fictional game world. You do not need to share your own payment details or install real remote-support software to follow an in-game caller conversation.
Separate AI response problems from voice playback
| What you observe | What to distinguish |
|---|---|
| Your spoken message is transcribed incorrectly | Speech input and recognition |
| A caller has a reply but spoken playback is missing or delayed | Voice loading or text-to-speech behavior |
| The game displays an AI failure message | A service or processing status, rather than character dialogue |
| A temporary usage restriction is displayed | A stated restriction, rather than proof that the caller is ignoring your story |
These are categories to identify, not diagnoses. Read the exact message before choosing a troubleshooting guide.
Hotfix 2 fixed stalled caller voice loading and Qwen3 startup blocking caller input. It also added clearer Qwen3 troubleshooting messages and a reminder that Qwen3 can be disabled if it is too slow. Follow the options actually available in your game instead of assuming that reinstalling or changing hardware is the next step.
Let voice preparation finish when appropriate
The launch recommendation for non-English players is to let Qwen3 text-to-speech finish downloading on the main menu for higher-quality voices. The game also warns before hosting or joining when those voices are not ready, with options to wait or continue.
There is no fixed download duration or guaranteed response delay to quote. An unfinished voice download is also different from an AI usage restriction. Completing it does not establish that restrictions disappear or that every caller response will arrive immediately.
Use the status message as your next decision point
When a system message appears, preserve its wording. Current fixes replaced some fake caller dialogue with clear messages for AI failures and temporary restrictions. That makes the message more useful than trying to infer a technical cause from the fictional character's personality.
If normal dialogue is available, return to the current caller and objective. If the system says a service is temporarily unavailable or usage is restricted, do not interpret that as a new gameplay challenge with a special phrase to bypass it. No verified Early Access daily allowance, reset interval, or subscription price is established here.
