Scam With Your Friends has documented recording and online-data features that you should understand before playing. Its official notices describe local call recordings, text sent to AI providers and a real in-game web browser. Those disclosures do not establish that the program is malware, and they are not an independent security certification either.
This page covers the JakeHub and Metater game published by Jatater Worldwide, Steam app 4954910. Check that identity before applying advice from a similarly named store listing. If you need a session with no recordings or no online processing of your conversations, the documented boss-review and AI features do not meet that requirement.
Where your conversation goes
The official privacy policy distinguishes recordings from the text used to generate replies. The later official updates also introduce optional online speech recognition, so “speech recognition is local” needs a qualification.
| Feature you use | What the published notices describe | Limit that matters |
|---|---|---|
| Built-in speech recognition | Your computer transcribes speech; the resulting text is used for AI requests. | Local recognition does not make the resulting AI conversation local. |
| AI caller dialogue and boss responses | Transcripts, conversation history and game context pass through the game's services to DeepSeek or through OpenRouter. | Submitted text can be retained under the applicable provider terms and settings; troubleshooting logs may also contain it. |
| Optional Deepgram recognition | Speech audio goes directly to Deepgram using your own account and API key. | This online mode differs from built-in recognition, and its usage is charged to your Deepgram account. |
| Multiplayer voice and replays | Steam networking and WebRTC share content with other players. | A recipient can record or share what they receive. |
Typing instead of speaking can avoid supplying microphone input for a particular AI message. It does not keep that typed message out of the online AI request. Choosing a host's personal OpenRouter key changes the account used for those requests; it is not a promise that the conversation stays on the host's computer.
Turn off permanent clips without confusing temporary recording
Call clips and their transcripts are saved locally by default. To find the usual Windows location described in the policy:
- Open
%USERPROFILE%\Documents. - Open Scam With Your Friends, then Videos.
This is the documented usual location, rather than proof that every Windows setup stores Documents in the same place.
Update 0.1.78 added Disable Call Saving. Enabling it prevents new permanent video clips from being kept, while temporary recordings remain available for boss reviews. It is a control over clip retention, not an option that removes all recording from gameplay.
Deleting a video inside the game does not currently delete its separate transcript file, according to the policy. Removing a local recording also cannot remove a copy another player saved or a copy you already attached to feedback.

The October 17 policy describes built-in recognition; optional Deepgram sends audio online.
Treat the in-game browser as a real browser
The official agreement warns that websites opened inside the game can see your IP address and can display approximate location or personalized content. That content can appear on a shared screen or stream. The agreement explicitly says streamer settings do not guarantee privacy.
The browser confirmation is therefore useful information, not a guarantee that an opened website cannot identify anything about your connection. If you do not need web browsing during a session, use the available browser-disable control rather than relying solely on a streamer setting.
Update 0.1.82 also states that Family Friendly mode blocks the in-game browser and replaces private caller photos in PrivateMail and AnyViewer with placeholders. That specific behavior does not mean every other recording, AI request or multiplayer privacy issue is disabled.
Check what you share beyond a normal call
Two optional actions have consequences that are easy to miss:
- Saving a custom caller: the privacy policy says its description, artwork and voice sample sync through Steam Workshop. Making it unlisted changes visibility; it does not prevent the upload. Deleting a local caller does not automatically delete the Workshop item. The agreement's broader wording about local characters should not be read as overriding this specific feature description.
- Sending feedback: diagnostics can include recent gameplay and conversation text even without a video attachment. Review the files you select before submitting; a local deletion does not retract an already-submitted copy.
The publisher states that it does not sell player recordings, transcripts or personal information. That is its published policy, rather than a finding from a client or server audit performed for this guide.
Choose your settings before joining a session
- Read the recording and online-AI notice before accepting it. Use the settings links if you need to reopen the agreement or privacy policy.
- Enable Disable Call Saving if you do not want new permanent clips, while accounting for temporary boss-review recording.
- Check your Speech settings before selecting Deepgram. Choose according to whether you accept sending speech audio to that service and paying through that account.
- Disable browser access if you do not need real websites on the shared in-game screen.
- Keep personal details out of AI dialogue, custom voice samples and shared screens when you do not want them transmitted or replayed.
These are choices based on the disclosed features. They do not establish that the executable is free of vulnerabilities, that every published promise has been independently verified, or that other players will keep a replay private.
The computer viruses and scambaiters described by the game's official website are fictional gameplay hazards. Their presence is not evidence that your real computer is infected. A real security alert needs investigation on its own terms rather than an answer copied from an in-game virus walkthrough.
